Bruges is a fucking shithole…

… No, it’s not at all. It’s bloody great, but I just watched the movie ‘In Bruges’ again. Anyone who has seen it will get the blog title, anyone who hasn’t.. Go watch it!!! It’s a very funny movie, stars Colin Farrell.
Well I went to Bruges last week with the boy… It was a really nice relaxing break. Bruges is a real tourist town, horse and carriage tours around the town, being able to rent a Segway , chocolate and souvenir shops everywhere!!
The chocolate shops were so beautiful, they were set out immaculately; so immaculately that it was only when we returned we realised that only had one small bar of chocolate between us. We just spent so much time looking at it and photographing it.
Of course I had to try a famous Belgian waffle.
Oh my they are scrumptious. I only had one during the trip- I’m so glad we were not there longer I do think I would have come back twice the size.
A big highlight of the trip was ‘The Belfry Tower’ It is one of the Bruges most prominent symbols. (It’s a central feature in the film ’In Bruges’)
The Belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives it served as an observation post for spotting fires and other dangers. There is a steep narrow staircase with 366 steps. Which members of the public can climb for a fee of 8 Euros. (4 Euros for youths)
…Well I only went and climbed it by myself (the boy doesn’t like heights.)
The very steep narrow staircase.

The view from the top!
After making it back down in one piece
One of the cool coffee houses we went to was called ‘Bean around the world.’ It’s an American coffee-house in the centre of Bruges – offers free American newspapers and WiFi… Great for iPhone addicts like me to be able to catch up and not get a massive data roaming charge.
We went to another place, a tea room… I’ve decided anything called a tea room is probably best to avoid. Terrible coffee, terrible tea but yummy biscuits. Go to tea rooms for biscuits, that’s my advice for you all.
Another place we stopped for lunch was a quiet little cafe, we had baguettes and fries.
I really enjoyed Bruges and I would love to go back in the winter and take some more cool photos.
Here are some more photos from the trip… Enjoy.
Busy days in London…

I had so many busy days in London last week that I can’t actually remember everything I got up to and when they took place.
So here is a run down in no real order…
A great lunch at Ravi Shankar.
Dosas are my new favourite food in the whole world.

We then had a nice long walk around many London landmarks as a proper tourist, even though I spend 2 weeks out of every 4 in London. Always fun to do!!
Another day, another lunch in Camden market. With an Indian wrap from a stall called Sonja’s Kitchen. Really beautiful healthy food. I am really enjoying Camden market more and more it’s just full of different kinds of people from all over the world. Love it!
How about a boat ride. Why not?!
Along Camden lock to little Venice. Great fun and such a relaxing way to spend 50 minutes.
Then after the boat ride Mark & I went for a trip to Abbey Road, which was brilliant. I really was surprised at the amount of people already there. The Beatles truly will be loved for centuries to come.
Of course the zebra crossing picture!! Yes that is me!! haha (Photo taken by Mark.)
…There was the usual trips to caffè nero as always… But no hot chocolate- I am loving the Earl Grey tea at the moment. I can’t get enough of it.
Unfortunately Peterborough called me back home and I had to leave. I suppose I have to work!!
As long as I have my iPod and water the train journey back is quite relaxing as I always choose the quiet coach to sit in.
… Tomorrow (Sunday) well I have work but after that… back to London Sunday night… Monday… Well then Mark and I are off to visit our homies in Bruges!!!
I can’t stop listening to…

Everyone I meet likes me the same
I only have one face that’ll never change
It doesn’t mean that I don’t wanna talk to you
It just means that you’d better tell me the truth.
